It is an annual film and audiovisual event that takes place in Goiânia, capital of the state of Goiás, Brazil. The event was created in 2010 and aims to show films and videos produced by independent filmmakers, artists and producers, in addition to stimulating reflection and debate on contemporary audiovisual production and promoting and disseminating the Brazilian and world animation market through realization of competitive and non-competitive short and feature films. The festival presents a diversified program, which includes competitive and non-competitive showings of short and feature films, music videos, documentaries, animations, audiovisual experiments, among other formats. In addition to the exhibitions, the festival also offers workshops, lectures, debates and artistic presentations. Lanterna Mágica stands out for its openness to experimentation and appreciation for independent and low-budget productions. The festival has become an important space for the dissemination and exchange of ideas and proposals in the audiovisual field, bringing together filmmakers, producers, critics and the public interested in cinema and art. The festival is now heading into its 5th edition.
