About the university
The Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) is one of the main higher education institutions in Brazil. UFPE offers a wide variety of undergraduate, graduate and research programs in different areas of knowledge, covering human sciences, exact sciences, applied social sciences, health sciences and engineering. Diversity and inclusion
Within UFPE, there is a group called Cintia, made up of women from the Centro de Informática, whose main purpose is to create a support network for all women studying in this area.
Cintia aims to encourage female participation in the areas of science, technology and computing, which are still predominantly male. The group seeks to promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for women, offering support, exchange of experiences and mutual strengthening. It recognizes the challenges faced by women in these areas and works to overcome gender barriers and stereotypes by encouraging women’s active participation and valuing their contributions.
With initiatives such as Cintia, UFPE reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive environment, encouraging female participation and contributing to building a more equitable and diverse society.
