A luz laser \u00e9\u00a0focalizada na superf\u00edcie do material e a\u00a0energia absorvida produz sua vaporiza\u00e7\u00e3o,\u00a0seguida de uma pluma de plasma de alta temperatura. Esta pluma \u00e9 confinada nas\u00a0proximidades da superf\u00edcie, devido \u00e0\u00a0presen\u00e7a do l\u00edquido. Simultaneamente,\u00a0ocorre vaporiza\u00e7\u00e3o, explos\u00e3o e\u00a0fotoioniza\u00e7\u00e3o do material, num processo que\u00a0ainda n\u00e3o \u00e9 completamente compreendido\u00a0mas que resulta na forma\u00e7\u00e3o das\u00a0nanopart\u00edculas. Diversos trabalhos t\u00eam sido\u00a0publicados, relacionando diferentes lasers,\u00a0materiais e solventes na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de\u00a0nanopart\u00edculas com diferentes formas e\u00a0tamanhos.
